looked like is impossible to know a person who lived in 300, and that photography was discovered 1500 years later and at that time not yet used to portray in a painting, even to people who had a public office are only to sculptures, mosaics or medals, so do not even know how lucian emperors and kings of that time.
In devotion to the saints we have images that represent the person according to an idealized and incubated symbols that identify fully as to St. Jude, St. Rita of Cascia, etc.
For Santa Filomena is known to be a girl of 13, who died a virgin, who must have been very beautiful for their children 'Diocletian has put it, who was martyred for her Christian faith and know the stones of the headstone of his grave the symbols of his martyrdom and virtue, so since the beginning of the devotion to this little Saint had been included within the images to represent certain symbols such as anchors, palms, lilies or iris and arrows, in addition to representing a cell that according to his imprisonment, martyrdom and death.
The image used here is a computerized mixing two of the most popular images currently in use, use the image made in 1961 by Hungarian painter Feszty Mass Born in Budapest (photo 2) and the image used by The Universal Living Rosary Association Dikinson based in Texas (photo 3), the beautiful images of themselves, but the intention was to unify the image of our beloved Holy broadcasts.
The mixture was held at the Photoshop program to change slides at different percentage to reach the final image being careful not to eliminate but neither see it that gave us the impression of being against any of them, the white robe was changed to symbol of purity also a pink cape symbol of their status as a princess, the aura became transparent, kept the flowers of the second painting and provided even more hands and some factions according to their teenage years and even show his spiritual peace, as well as his innocence in his speech, after completing this task was repainted using the Corel Painter IX. all this was done waiting for the devotees can feel his strong front prescencia to contemplate his portrait.
Saint Philomena's Image
Is Impossible to know how a person Who Lived in the year 300AD Looked Like, Because photography WAS discovered 1500 Years Later in Europe and in Those Days people Did not Had Their portraits painted, Even the emperors Had Monarchs and Their portraits made only as sculptures or medals, so we do not even really know How They Looked Like really. In
devotion to Our Saints we see Representing Images them as an ideal form but including symbols to identify them fully as examples: (St Jude, St, Rita of Cascia, etc.)
In Saint Philomena’s case we know several facts: she was a thirteen year old virgin, she must have been very Beautiful in order to make Diocletian obsessed with her, that she was martyred for her Christian faith and we know the stones of her grave, they contain very important information about her martyrdom and virtues. so since the beginning of the devotion to our little Saint, images of her show some symbols such as the anchor, the palm, the lilies (symbol of purity and chastity), the arrows, most of the images show her inside her cell to remember her captivity.
The image here is a computerized mix of two of the most popular images in our days, part of the image belongs to the 1961 painting made by Hungarian artist Feszty Masa from Budapest (photo2) and parts comes from the image used by The Universal Living Rosary Association of Dikinson Texas (photo 3) both very beautiful images, but our task was to unify them in one image of our beloved Saint.
The mix was done with the help of Adobe Photoshop application changing the opacity or transparency of the two paintings in different percentages until a final Image was reached, taking care of not eliminate one or the other but to give the impression of being in front of any of them, the dress was changed to white, symbol of purity and chastity and also a pink cape added to show her royal origin, the shining of the head was made translucent, we keep the flowers in her hair but the hands size was reduced and some of the face features were also modified in order to maintain a teen aspect but still showing spiritual peace and innocence in her expression.
after all that was completed, it was repainted in Corel Painter IX software.
All that hoping that devotees can feel her strong presence in front of the portrait.
