Thank You Note For Preacher For Funeral Service

Kingsley Hall

In 1965, Laing, Cooper and Aaron Esterson founded the Philadelphia
Association, which aimed to create centers to host
people with mental illness. It opened three "homes" of this kind, the most famous
which was Kingsley Hall, which operated between 1965 and 1970 in an old building
London. In Kingsley Hall there were no rules whatsoever,
residents did what they wanted, doctors and patients
lived in conditions of absolute equality, and the cases of patients could perform
their "journey regressive" to settle then in a more "authentic"

The Controversy Santa Filomena Santa Filomena

Santa Filomena The Controversy

has been much serious discussion on the theme of the little Saint and a lot of nonsense. I think we need to talk about presenting the most recent archaeological findings, of which no more bitter critics are capable of doubt. Had

controversy Filomena studied in local, as the great archaeologist P. Bonavenia sj (rather than later) had not said so much superficial.

To inform the reader of the "Controversy about Filomena" has to do with historical and archaeological analysis of heading LUMENA-PAXTE-CUM-FI, discovered on May 25, 1802 in the Catacombs of St. Priscilla in Rome. The "loculus" that for 15 centuries ended the body of our little Saint, was sealed with three terracotta tiles above the caption written in red letters.
The first word, definite and clear, written on a single tile. PAXTE tile is in the middle, and CUM-FI in the past. As soon as it was discovered and read the caption FILUMENA \u200b\u200bPAX TECUM.
Immediately the reader may ask: "Why this transposition? In response, beginning with a brief analysis of archaeological and historical interpretation, by Father SJ Bonavenia "The undertaker could not write the full name on the first tile to maintain the proportions of the letter, he continued writing the initial FI and LUMENA \u200b\u200bthe last tile in the first. As often the custom in the Catacombs start heading in the second tile, the undertaker in his care not to cause a misunderstanding of those who were going to read, wrote in the tomb of the Saint of the way ".

As mentioned above Bonavenia says writing has a clear and comprehensive sense, and that the tiles of the third century, as a unanimous all archaeologists say, there were no transposition. Surely with the current thinking, would not agree with what he did the gravedigger. But we think, not with the mentality of our age, but with the time when the writer lived.

During the first 20 years of this century, an archaeologist, O. Marucchi, caused widespread outrage because of its irrational and harmful conclusions regarding the question of Filomena. Supported a hypothesis that the tiles that sealed the tombs were re-used in other, and this would be what happened to the Santa Filomena. Marucchi

Mugnano never visited, with only studying the heading of photos, concluded that the body of Santa's tomb in 1802 found it was not addressed under the heading of the photos. According to him, tiles were the fourth century, a time of religious peace, and had been re-used with good results.

As the Lord said, is true that the children of the shadows are wiser than the light . In fact, the theory of the archaeologist who perverted the minds of many scholars who accepted the adoption of Delehaye.

Dante Baldoni, in the "Bibliotheca Sanctorum" Vol 6, is the biography of the saint, sometimes giving the impression of an inadequate understanding of the Question of Filomena. Limited to the mention of the theory of Marucchi disturbing the conscience of believers and others who want the truth.

hypothesis by Marucchi, tiles re-used has been the basis for denying the identity of the person of Filomena. For this, we reach a conclusion on. However, subsequent investigations Ferrua Father, SJ, has nullified the conclusion thus also relative. Here is the full report:

A report under the heading LUMENA \u200b\u200bPAXTE-CUM-FI

I have carefully examined the three tiles "mezzi-bipedali (bipedali are Roman tiles tile, two feet square, these are a half the size) with which sheltered the tomb of St. Philomena. I reached the following conclusions: writing with a brush on the ground, ie, before putting on grave, and before sealing them with lime. This is demonstrated by the fact that in many places the limestone covers the edges of the letters. This easily explains why the three tiles could not be arranged later in the tomb in the wrong order, ie to one of three first rather than last. "

Surely the gravedigger who closed the tomb could not read or write, so mistakes and this type of disorder is seen frequently in the tombs of the catacombs. Often it becomes clear that the undertakers did not know Latin. Marucchi hypothesized that the tiles were taken from another tomb, which were used back to points of order, does not prove that the title not apply to her:

1. Because in that case would be seen a second application of lime. So far everyone who has seen the tiles and many say that the tomb was closed only once.

2. If the tiles were used twice would flake at the edges. In particular, two tiles are of a "bipedal" complete, cut in half. Edges are still completely intact over the fracture line.

3. Valuable marble slabs, often used twice. It was the same in the case of tile, if it were written. Anyway, to avoid an error would have taken the precaution of putting the writing on the inside. (As they used to do with tables). In this way would have eliminated the inconvenience of covering the old and new.

4. Finally, if you used the tiles back have been odd and surprising move all the same tomb.

In conclusion, the hypothesis Marucchi abstract orientation is unlikely and contrary to the ordinary methods of procedure for the gravediggers of the old days. As discussed
, and all the facts, you can not believe in this hypothesis as true.
Fr Delehaye has done a great disservice to the good name of archeology saying "Le Savant Archeoloque written rein n'a mieux" (Anal Boll. 24 (1905) p. 120).
In other words, the controversy that arose about this point between Bonavenia and Marucchi, Bonavenia is vindicated. (Cf G. Bonavenia The controversy about the wording of Santa Filomena Rome, 1906). We also have a question
archaeological, historical and archaeological controversy Filomena (Rome 1907). This same conclusion was carried out by two archaeologists, and Mustilli Prandi (unknown) with the approval of M. Guarducci. (Graffiti di S. Pietro, 1, P501. Seal signed and dated, Rome, November 29, 1963).

Finally, the historian, George Maute Markhof, in his commentary on the book: Filomena Miracle uncomfortable, Vienna, 1981, against a Marucchi says: "I think the trial of Italian archaeologist Marucchi, superficial and spiteful extremely surprising considering the great popularity it enjoyed.
obviously had some prejudice against Santa Filomena and did not behave as a scientist to investigate the matter objectively.

Nevertheless, there are still many mysteries about Santa Filomena. I believe that among the Catholic saints with exception of Our Lady, is presented as an extraordinary phenomenon.

Thus, it is possible to conclude by saying that Filomena is a person who exists, and is the Saint and miracle-worker yesterday and Today, God uses the simple and humble to confound the pride of the scholars.

The greatest miracle that God does, in favor of Santa, is the continuing spread of his cult throughout the Catholic world.
Santa Filomena, the martyr of chastity and faith in Christ, can stop the spread of materialism and rationalism cold today, through a spirit of ardent faith.

CONTROVERSY ON THE SAINT PHILOMENE

Serious There has-been much discussion on the topic about the little Saint and a lot of nonsense. I think we Need to talk about Presenting the Most Recent Archaeological Findings, of Which Not Even the Critics Are Resentful MOST capable of Doubt.

If they had studied Philomena's controversy on the premises, as the great archaeologist P. Bonavenia s.j. (rather than later) had not been stated so many things superficialy.

To inform the reader the "Controversy over Philomena " has to do with historical and archaeological analysis of the heading LUMENA PAXTE CUM-FI discovered on May 25, 1802 in the Catacombs of St. Priscilla in Rome. The "loculus" which for 15 centuries locked the body of our saint, was sealed with three terracotta tiles with the aforementioned caption written in red letters.
The first word, definite and clear, is written on a single tile. PAXTE tile is in the middle, and CUM-FI at last. As soon as the item was discovered was read PAX TECUM FILUMENA.

Immediately the reader may ask "Why this transposition?" In response, beginning with a brief analysis of archaeological and historical interpretation, by Father Bonavenia s.j. "The gravedigger could not write the full name on the first tile to preserve the proportions of the letter, he continued writing the initial FI and LUMENA the last tile in the first. The most common practice at the Catacombs start heading into the second tile, the gravedigger in his care not to cause a misinterpretation of those who would read, wrote in the tomb of the Saint that way"

From the above Bonavenia says that writing has a clear and comprehensive sense, and that the tiles, in the third century, as all archaeologists say unanimously, suffered no transposition. Surely with the current thinking, we would not agree with what he did the gravedigger. But we argue, not with the mentality of our age, but by the time the writer lived.

During the first 20 years of this century, an archaeologist, O. Marucchi, caused general indignation because of its irrational and harmful conclusions regarding the question of Philomena. He held a hypothesis that the tiles that sealed the graves were returned to use in others, and that this would be what happened to that of Saint Philomena.
Marucchi never visited Mugnano, with only studying the caption for photos, concluded that the body of the Saint's tomb found in 1802 was not the addressee of the subtitle of the photos. He said that the tiles were the fourth century, a time of religious peace, and had been re-used with good results.

As the Lord said is true that the children of darkness are wiser than the children of light. In fact, the theory of this archaeologist who perverted the minds of many scholars who accepted the approval of Delehaye.

Dante Baldoni, in the "Bibliotheca Sanctorum" Vol 6, follows the biographical summary of the saint, sometimes giving the impression of an inadequate understanding of the Question of Philomena. merely mentioning the theory of Marucchi disturbed the conscience of believers and others who want the truth.

The Marucchi‘s hypothesis, of reused tiles has been the basis for denying the identity of the person of Philomena. for this, we reach a relative conclusion. However, subsequent investigations of Father Ferrua, SJ, have also canceled so the relative conclusion. Here is the full report:

A REPORT OF EPIGRAPH: LUMENA PAXTE CUM-FI

I have carefully examined the three tiles "mezzi-bipedali (bipedali are Roman tiles, two feet from side-these are a half in size) that were enclosing the tomb of St. Philomena. I have reached the following conclusions: they were written with a brush on the ground, ie, before putting them on the grave, and before sealing it with lime. This is demonstrated by the fact that in many places the limestone covers the edges of the letters. This easily explains why the three tiles could not be arranged later in the tomb in the wrong order, ie to put one of three first instead of last. "

Surely the gravedigger that closed the tomb could not read or write. So errors like that were often in the tombs of the catacombs. it is clear that often the gravediggers did not know Latin. Marucchi hypothesis, that the tiles were removed from another tomb, which were used again with the letters in disarray, don’t shows that the epigraph does not apply to it:

1. Because in that case would be observed a second application of lime. So far everyone who has seen the tiles and many say that the tomb was closed only once.

2. If the tiles were used twice would flake at the edges. In particular, two tiles are of a "bipedal" complete, cut in half. There are still completely intact edges along the fracture line.

3. Marble slabs, very valuable, were often used twice. It was not the same in the case of tile, if it were written. anyway, to avoid an error, would have taken the precaution of putting the inscription inside. (As they used to do with tables). In this way would have eliminated the inconvenience of covering the old with the new.

4. Finally, if the tiles were used again would have been strange and surprising take all of the same tomb.

In conclusion, Marucchi’s hypothesis is abstract in orientation is unlikely and contrary to the ordinary methods of procedure for the gravediggers of the old days. By the examined, and all the facts, you can not believe in that hypothesis as true. Fr Delehaye has done a great disservice to the good name of archeology saying, "Le Savant Archeoloque written rein n'a mieux" (Anal Boll. 24 (1905), p. 120).
In other words, in the controversy that arose about this point between Bonavenia and Marucchi, Bonavenia is vindicated. (G. Bonavenia Controversy about the Saint Philomena’s Epigraph Rome, 1906). We also have a question, historical and archaeological in the Philomena’s Controversy (Rome 1907). The same conclusion was finally carried out by two archaeologists, Mustilli and Prandi (unknown each to the other) with the approval of M. Guarducci. (Graffiti di S. Pietro, 1, P501. Label the date and signed, Rome, 29 November 1963).

Finally, the historian, George Maute Markhof, in his commentary on the book "Philomena The Uncomfortable Miracle" , Vienna, 1981, against Marucchi says: "I relieve Italian archaeologist Marucchi’s Judgement, shallow and spiteful, extremely surprising considering the excellent reputation he enjoyed. Of course he had some prejudice against Saint Philomena and did not behave as a scientist to investigate the matter objectively.

Nevertheless, there are still many mysteries about Saint Philomena. I believe that among the Catholic saints, with the exception of Our Lady, is presented as an extraordinary phenomenon.

It is possible to conclude by saying that Philomena is a person that exists, and is the Saint and miracle-worker of yesterday and today, God uses the simple and humble to confound the pride of the learned.

The greatest miracle that God does, for the saint, is the continuing spread of her devotion throughout the Catholic world. St. Philomena, the martyr of chastity and faith in Christ, can halt the spread of materialism and cold rationalism of today, through a spirit of ardent Faith.

How To Rock Up Lidocaine

Kouri naive EMOTIONAL MYOPIA: Eye, the National Judicial Council does not accept blind judges

Clinging blindly to a repealed provision of the Organic Law of the Judiciary, the CNM has decided that the blind are not eligible to play a position in the judiciary. This fact, imaginable in the universal history of infamy, was denounced by the victim, a lawyer Universidad San Antonio Abad del Cusco, graduate studies and a long life. The refusal of the CNM, through the respective office, it occurred in the month of July (1).

Moreover, the regulatory environment in which the event occurs appears to be insufficient to explain, if they do not examine the ideological background. The rule protects decision responds to a view contrary to the impression of fundamental rights and sense of justice in a constitutional state (2). A provision is consistent with the nineteenth-century imagination of law, in which the law makes the realization of constitutional principles and values.

attributed Interpretation to this rule can stigmatize the disabled and the subject who possesses it. In any case, this idea has been fervently pursued by many commentators and interpreters of law. The civil code has been a recurring area of \u200b\u200badherents to this type of enchantment and intellectual blindness. And the constitutional field has not been maintained free of its influence. It is therefore not surprising that to happen, but the idea is that it does not happen again.

The principle should be guaranteed the right to equality and, therefore, the plexus development of fundamental rights relating to right of access to public office. Therefore, the disability can not be due to decreased rights, rather, the opposite should occur for subjects who possess it, they are placed on equal footing with the other citizens.

blindness can not be a reason in itself and ex ante , disable the subject that has to hold public office. If what is at issue, is to ensure the suitability of prospective judges to optimize the principles of the judicial function, the path is to evaluate the merits and requirements necessary to prove that condition, including rigorous medical examination. Logistics as a pretext to deny the application to a blind person is absurd, since their existence or absence is the responsibility of the institution, in this case, the public prosecutor or the judiciary. These are entities that must provide ramps, guide dogs and all the technology needed to run a qualifying blind intellectuals to hold the office, do, period. In the specific case, this is part of the facts, because it is someone who holds college and university degree.

utilitarian efficiency in pursuit of saving resources, may collude with the legal formalism to justify a response similar to that made in the present case, but the result will surely be unfair and ultimately ineffective. Solutions of this type focus on the rights of some individuals and generate deep gaps that must then be saved, with great expense and effort to prevent erosion of the social system. Unless, of course, it is intended the disappearance of difference, and by force unworkable.

naive confidence in the written rules is also a form of blindness, when they are assumed in a thoughtless or has implications for the authority they represent. But blindness can translocate beyond the sense of sight, to become an emotional obstacle that blocks politically sensitive and difficult sense of criticism. A gap like this is comparable with myopia. Not that is not visible. In any case the images and ideas they are distant the object, distorted by the veil of formalism and little ambition constitutional interpreter.

(1) The final decision is notified by the NJC Memorandum No. 34-2009-SG/CNM July 16 of this. The decision to exclude it was back to have him declared unfit. The tenor of the letter speaks for itself: "(...) considering that Article 10 of the Rules of Competition for the Selection and Appointment of Judges and Prosecutors states that the declaration of a suitable candidate and not limit the power Council verifying compliance with established regulatory requirements to apply, when it was prtinente; exclude its application to that Call for failing to comply with the provisions of Article 177, subsection 5 of the Consolidated Text of the Judicial Power Organization Act, which states: "Article 177 º: Common requirements to be a judge: 5. Do not be blind, deaf or dumb, or suffer from mental illness or permanent physical disability that prevents him from performing duties with due diligence. What notified according to Law Firm: Dr. Jorge Matienzo Luján - Secretary General - National Judicial Council "

(2) Article 177 ° of the LOPJ says:" Do not be blind, deaf or dumb, or suffer from mental illness or permanent physical disability that prevents diligent performance of office "

looked like is impossible to know a person who lived in 300, and that photography was discovered 1500 years later and at that time not yet used to portray in a painting, even to people who had a public office are only to sculptures, mosaics or medals, so do not even know how lucian emperors and kings of that time.
In devotion to the saints we have images that represent the person according to an idealized and incubated symbols that identify fully as to St. Jude, St. Rita of Cascia, etc.
For Santa Filomena is known to be a girl of 13, who died a virgin, who must have been very beautiful for their children 'Diocletian has put it, who was martyred for her Christian faith and know the stones of the headstone of his grave the symbols of his martyrdom and virtue, so since the beginning of the devotion to this little Saint had been included within the images to represent certain symbols such as anchors, palms, lilies or iris and arrows, in addition to representing a cell that according to his imprisonment, martyrdom and death.
The image used here is a computerized mixing two of the most popular images currently in use, use the image made in 1961 by Hungarian painter Feszty Mass Born in Budapest (photo 2) and the image used by The Universal Living Rosary Association Dikinson based in Texas (photo 3), the beautiful images of themselves, but the intention was to unify the image of our beloved Holy broadcasts.
The mixture was held at the Photoshop program to change slides at different percentage to reach the final image being careful not to eliminate but neither see it that gave us the impression of being against any of them, the white robe was changed to symbol of purity also a pink cape symbol of their status as a princess, the aura became transparent, kept the flowers of the second painting and provided even more hands and some factions according to their teenage years and even show his spiritual peace, as well as his innocence in his speech, after completing this task was repainted using the Corel Painter IX. all this was done waiting for the devotees can feel his strong front prescencia to contemplate his portrait.

Saint Philomena's Image

Is Impossible to know how a person Who Lived in the year 300AD Looked Like, Because photography WAS discovered 1500 Years Later in Europe and in Those Days people Did not Had Their portraits painted, Even the emperors Had Monarchs and Their portraits made only as sculptures or medals, so we do not even really know How They Looked Like really. In

devotion to Our Saints we see Representing Images them as an ideal form but including symbols to identify them fully as examples: (St Jude, St, Rita of Cascia, etc.)

In Saint Philomena’s case we know several facts: she was a thirteen year old virgin, she must have been very Beautiful in order to make Diocletian obsessed with her, that she was martyred for her Christian faith and we know the stones of her grave, they contain very important information about her martyrdom and virtues. so since the beginning of the devotion to our little Saint, images of her show some symbols such as the anchor, the palm, the lilies (symbol of purity and chastity), the arrows, most of the images show her inside her cell to remember her captivity.

The image here is a computerized mix of two of the most popular images in our days, part of the image belongs to the 1961 painting made by Hungarian artist Feszty Masa from Budapest (photo2) and parts comes from the image used by The Universal Living Rosary Association of Dikinson Texas (photo 3) both very beautiful images, but our task was to unify them in one image of our beloved Saint.

The mix was done with the help of Adobe Photoshop application changing the opacity or transparency of the two paintings in different percentages until a final Image was reached, taking care of not eliminate one or the other but to give the impression of being in front of any of them, the dress was changed to white, symbol of purity and chastity and also a pink cape added to show her royal origin, the shining of the head was made translucent, we keep the flowers in her hair but the hands size was reduced and some of the face features were also modified in order to maintain a teen aspect but still showing spiritual peace and innocence in her expression.
after all that was completed, it was repainted in Corel Painter IX software.
All that hoping that devotees can feel her strong presence in front of the portrait.

Why is Saint Philomena Such a Powerful making spiritual return in Our Own Times?

We might expect devotion to St Philomena to have been hindered by the suppression of her feastday in 1961. On 14 February of that year, she was removed from the calendar of saints amidst doubts about her historicity. However, it was never the facts of her earthly life, admirable though they are, which fostered her remarkably widespread devotion. Instead, devotion to Philomena has always been nourished by an unending series of extraordinary miracles and spiritual favours, which caused Pope Gregory XVI to declare her the wonder-worker of the nineteenth century.

Her sanctuary is still a fully approved place of public pilgrimage and her Universal Archconfraternity continues to enjoy the favours bestowed upon it by a succession of popes. Now, in the twenty-first century, a remarkable resurgence of devotion to St Philomena has occurred. The doubts raised about her historicity have been rebutted by archeologists and historians. But her popular resurgence may be attributed to something else:

Why is Saint Philomena making such a powerful spiritual return in our own times?

I believe one reason is that the youth of today need an example of heroic Christian purity, even when they do not find support for purity from their society, their friends, even at times from their own parents. Many of today’s youth are being exposed to numerous occasions of blasphemy and impurity through pornography, immodest clothing, obscene movies, and oftentimes, most tragically, with the consent of their parents.

Today’s youth need a young heroic witness for the upholding of Christian purity even if their peers and their own parents are not encouraging them. They face situations very similar to those which Philomena had to contend with. Both the Emperor and her parents encouraged her to become the Empress of Rome — the highest position of power and fame the world could offer any woman. Similarly, our young people are continually tempted by the allure of power and pride and illicit pleasures. Because Philomena said yes to Christ and to His Kingdom, it is little wonder that Jesus is making her well known again as the Patroness of Purity, for the young people of the twenty-first century.

Why Santa Filomena is making this powerful spiritual return in our time?

might expect that devotion to St. Philomena has been hampered by the removal of his feast in 1961. On 14 February of that year, was removed from the calendar of saints amid doubts about its historicity. However, the facts were never of his earthly life, even admirable to be, which encouraged a widespread devotion.
However, devotion to Philomena's always been fueled by an endless series of extraordinary miracles and spiritual favors, which caused Pope Gregory XVI to declare the nineteenth century miracle-worker. His shrine is
still a place of pilgrimage fully approved public and universal Archconfraternity still enjoying the benefits granted to it by a succession of popes. Now in the twenty-first century, a remarkable resurgence of devotion to St. Philomena has occurred. The doubts raised about its historicity have been refuted by archaeologists and historians. But its popular resurgence can be attributed to something else: Why

Santa Filomena is making this powerful spiritual return in our time?

I think one of the reasons is that the youth of today needs a heroic example of Christian purity, even if they include support for purity in their society, their friends, sometimes even their own parents. Many young people today are exposed to numerous occasions of blasphemy and impurity through pornography, indecent clothing, obscene movies, and many times, most tragically, with the consent of their parents.

Today's youth need a young heroic witness for the defense of Christian purity, but their peers and their own parents did not encourage them. They face situations similar to those that Filomena had to fight. Both the Emperor and his parents encouraged her to become Empress of Rome - the highest position of power and fame in the world can offer any woman. Similarly, our youth are continually tempted by the lust for power and pride and illicit pleasures. Because
Philomena said yes to Christ and his Kingdom, it is no wonder that Jesus is once again making its well-known as the Patroness of purity for young people in the XXI century.

Santa Filomena is in paradise,

(Padre Pio)

On 14 February 1961, the Sacred Congregation of Rites removed the day of the feast of St. Philomena's Church Calendar. In addition, he replaced the Mass "Proper" (Self) of worship to replace the Mass of the Common of Martyrs. The reason given is that "no historical evidence of its existence", when in reality the evidence for the existence of Santa is overwhelming and is extraordinary and many wonders that God has granted through his intercession. In addition, we have the testimony of many very holy. The veracity of these witnesses is beyond reproach, however, all this has not been taken into account

The August 11, 1971, Luigi Esposito, in an article titled "Worship in the last ten years, "says

" In 1964 when the diocesan bishop us visited, he asked what was the authentic interpretation of the statement "Festum Autem S. Filumenae '. We wanted to know exactly if you just removed, liturgical worship, or any kind of devotion. We received the following reply: "Liturgical worship is removed, the popular cult remains unchanged. You can still venerate the Holy celebrations in honor of external and Mass of the Common."

When Obsipo of Mysore, M. Moneñor Fernandez, head of the cathedral of Santa Filomena in India, Paul VI asked, how one should interpret the decree of February 14, 1961, the replied, "Continue as before and not disturb the faithful."

Realizing that Pauline was cured, the crowd went wild with joy and shouted again and again: A miracle! A miracle! Saint Philomena Viva!

Pauline began his return to Rome and presented to the Pope. But as he had not been informed of his cure, was paralyzed with joy and wonder to see in perfect health to the young woman shortly before was on the verge of death. To investigate thoroughly cured, Pauline ordered to stay in Rome for a year, during which he conferred many privileges.

For two years the Sovereign Pontiff prayed and meditated until Filomena elevated to sainthood. On January 30, 1837, issued the decree authorizing the devotion and granted the liturgical celebration of his feast with Mass in his honor. He called the little virgin-martyr "the miracle worker of the nineteenth century."

The greatest miracle related to this miracle-worker said to have been the rapid spread around the world their devotion. St. John Vianney was the one who played an important role in promoting such devotion. Among his clients were also St. Madeleine-Sophie Barat, St. Peter Chanel, and Ven. Peter Julien Eymard. Through souls like these, the little saint entered the hearts of millions around the world.

But who was St. Philomena? Despite detailed investigations, we found very little information made known his life before his martyrdom. In response to the fervent prayers of his devotees, the holy revealed three different people the story of his life and martyrdom, which can be read in the brochure Filumena Pax tecum. According to these revelations, Filomena, who had taken a vow of virginity at a young age, was killed because she refused to enter into a sinful marriage with a rich and powerful monarch. Neither the pleas of their parents and offers wealth and earthly domain, or the most terrifying torments were able to weaken their resolve. And although we are not obliged to accept private revelation, it is noteworthy that these disclosures under surprisingly known details about the holy, and are extraordinary, because the people who lived were revealed in different places and not knew each other.

Since his relics were found, Pope after pope has publicly honored and promoted a personal devotion to her. Pope Gregory XVI issued a decree of canonization and declared to be "the great miracle worker of the nineteenth century," and then "the patron saint of Living Rosary. " Pope Pius IX was perhaps the most devoted to her. Called "patron of the children of Mary" and granted the special privilege of a proper office. The saintly Pope Pius X, who showed a tender devotion to her, ordered that the decisions and decrees made by his predecessors, concerning the cause of the saint, not altered in any way. Pope Leo XIII approved the Confraternity of Saint Philomena and then rose to the rank of archicofradía.

is tragic that despite these statements of the Fathers, now is being said everywhere that there was no Santa Filomena, who was not virgin-martyr or saint, merely a legend. The acts of canonization so part of the teaching office of the papacy that have long been regarded as infallible acts. On the advice of the Holy Mother Church, supported by scientific evidence and the miracles wrought through the intercession of the saint, we know that Filomena did exist. But he returned, after a month of terrible suffering, he could make the trip to Mugnano, which was cured at the shrine of the relics of Filomena. His health had become alarmingly during the trip. The people, terrified by the girl's skeletal appearance, they gathered round and deafened their prayers to Philomena for the cure. All the difficulties and uncertainties that prevented the approval of the Church were resolved after the best experts have scrutinized all the evidence. Salve Regina in the journal

Of all the saints that God has raised up to modern times, one has special attraction for young as adults. For many centuries, God kept hidden history of this holy as a precious treasure, as his remains lay deep in the Roman catacombs, his name was lost in the dark and unknown to mankind. It was only recently that God in His all-wise Providence saw fit to lift the veil covering the resplendent beauty of the virtuous soul and light radiated from there has been through the thick fog of this world full of sin. Her name is Filomena, the "daughter of light."

On May 24, 1802, the feast of Mary Help of Christians, a small cavity excavators found a stranger in the catacombs of Saint Priscilla. It was an extraordinary discovery, because all the relics in the cemetery had already been taken in the sixteenth century. Everything indicated that the tomb was exactly where his sacred remains placed there centuries ago. The crypt was sealed with three terracotta tiles bearing the inscription: Lumena - Pax Te - Cum Fi. Quite possibly, the slabs were misplaced in the rush to bury, and which, when rearranged, reads in Latin: Pax Tecum Filumena (peace be upon you Filumena). In slabs were also painted with red anchor, two arrows, a lance, a palm and a lily, which appeared to indicate the tomb of a virgin martyr. It ended the excavation and set the display of the sarcophagus for the next day.

Upon opening the tomb, found the skeleton of a young girl of 12 or 13, and near his head was broken half a jar containing what turned out to be his blood dry. While experts latter carefully transferred to a clear glass urn, were startled by the appearance beautiful sparkling gems. Cardinal Ruffo Scilla, who renewed the seals on the new reliquary after placement of the blood in an urn in the authentication declared: "We have seen the blood become more precious and more bright colors ...». The countless wonders operated by this precious relic are undoubtedly among the greatest wonders of the Christian world.

bones, ashes and blood were exhumed and placed carefully in a wooden box, after being open, experts carefully examined the contents again. Then drafted an affidavit and signed by doctors, theologians, experts in biology and physical, as well as civil and ecclesiastical courts. The relics were transferred to an ebony box lined with silk, which was sealed on three sides, and under the guard of honor was carried solemnly to the Cardinal Vicar custody to await orders from the Pope to be deposited in a church. Despite the extraordinary nature of the miracle of the blood, there was no precipitous action by the Church. Proceeding with his characteristic slow and wise, launched a legal investigation.

One day in 1805, a young priest, D. Francesco di Silva, came to the sacred place where the remains of thirteen martyrs. Having accompanied the Bishop of Potenza in a visit to Rome, tried earnestly to procure a relic to his parish during their stay. Upon approaching the place where lay the precious remnants of the virgin-martyr, was suddenly seized with emotion. The small Filomena had claimed her heart, and, since then, she did not break the priest until his relics in their possession. Despite the seemingly insurmountable obstacles, soon after the relics gave to the Bishop of Potenza, who in turn gave the young priest.
The translation of the relics to the parish of D. Francesco Mugnano, occurred on August 10, 1805, and was accompanied by many miracles. The village, where people suddenly fell in love with Filomena, would suffer a big change. His wonderful powers manifested with miracles of all kinds, were given blessings in abundance, the people's faith deepened, and the sanctuary soon became famous all over the wonderful favors were granted there. The most important miracle was the great miracle of Mugnano: the cure of Pauline Marie Jaricot.

daughter of wealthy French parents, Pauline Jaricot was endowed with beauty, intelligence and charming personality. Despite the strong pull of the world, the heart of Pauline leaned toward the things of the spirit. However, only after a long, hard battle that grace was reached his final triumph in his soul. The victory proved to be of great value to God, for this fragile girl lived to become the founder of three major organizations, whose fruits are not far in life: Living Rosary Association, the Society for the Propagation of the Faith and Holy Childhood Association.

In March 1835, an ailment that Pauline had long suffered, worsened a lot and drastic measures should be taken. Death was not far, and now his ultimate ambition was to visit the Holy Father's blessing for his work. If not for the intercession of Philomena, who long ago became familiar, not Pauline had survived the long journey by coach. Death seemed to pursue the steps of the weary travelers, but God had plans for his devoted servant.

Pauline came to Rome in a state of utter exhaustion. It was the first time admitted that he could not continue, and ordered that he canceled his audience with the Pope. Upon hearing this, it was Gregory XVI to visit this young lady who had done so much for the Church. She thanked him repeatedly for his work and asked him to plead for him in heaven. Then Pauline said, 'If I return well from my visit to Mugnano and I'll walk to the Vatican, does condescend His Holiness to proceed without delay with the investigation as the Because of Filomena? ". "Yes, yes, my daughter, because that really would be a first class miracle." He was convinced that he would never see her again, because it appeared that Pauline was dying

Poem by Longfellow

SANTA FILOMENA
by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Whene'er a noble deed is wrought,
Whene'er is spoken a noble Thought,
Our hearts, in glad surprise,
to High Levels rise.

The tidal wave of souls
Deeper Into Our inmost Being rolls,
And lifts us unawares
Out of all meaner cares.

Honor to those whose words or deeds
Thus help us in our daily needs,
And by their overflow
Raise us from what is low!

Thus thought I, as by night I read
Of the great army of the dead,
The trenches cold and damp,
The starved and frozen camp,--

The wounded from the battle-plain,
In dreary hospitals of pain,
The cheerless corridors,
The cold and stony floors.

Lo! in that house of misery
A lady with a lamp I see
Pass through the glimmering gloom,
And flit from room to room.

And slow, as in a dream of bliss,
The speechless sufferer turns to kiss
Her shadow, as it falls
Upon the darkening walls.

As if a door in heaven should be
Opened, and then closed suddenly,
The vision came and went,
The light shone was spent.

On England's annals, through the long
Hereafter of her speech and song,
That light its rays shall cast
From portals of the past.

A lady with a lamp shall stand
In the great history of the land,
A noble type of good,
Heroic womanhood.

Nor even shall be wanting here
The palm, the lily, and the spear,
The symbols that of yore
Saint Filomena bore.

Santa Filomena ( light daughter or beloved in Greek) is a virgin and martyr of the Catholic Church

In 1802, while carrying out excavations at the famous catacombs of St. Priscilla in Rome, he found a sealed vault with three terracotta tiles bearing the inscription: Lumena - Pax Te - Cum Fi. Trying to make sense of this phrase, be re-arranged some slightly syllables and cum you got PAXTE Filumena, which in Latin means "Peace be with you, Philomena."

In the tomb found the body of a 12 or 13 years, near his head was broken vase containing what was believed to be dried blood. Later his body was placed in an ebony box lined with silk and gave the Church, being Agostode 10, 1805 transferred the relics to the parish of D. Francesco Mugnano, where his shrine.

Neapolitan A nun called Sister Louise asked Santa Filo ore, through prayer, to reveal part of his life. Then, he allegedly received in a dream the requested information, which is summarized in the following story.

Filomena was the princess of a city-state located on the Greek island of Corfu, the daughter of Christian kings to be baptized as Publius, his personal physician, told them that God could help them to have the child they so desired but could not conceive.

At 13 years old, Filomena traveled to Rome with his parents when the Emperor Diocletian summoned to formally declare war, however, impressed with the beauty and elegance of the princess, he offered peace if Filomena I was given as his wife. The parents agreed, but the daughter refused the deal, not only was upset at being offered as a trophy to the Romans but even had he been consulted, but she had taken a vow of virginity years ago and thought fulfill at any cost.

After many futile efforts to convince Philomena to marry him and become his empress, Diocletian executed his parents for standing up against the Roman Empire and imprisoned for over a month. After 37 days in jail, Filomena was subjected to various tortures (he was flogged, then thrown into the Tiber River with an anchor strapped to his body but divine intervention saved her again and again to die. Finally, as part of under Roman people began to take his side and protested against his detention, Filomena was accused of witchcraft and beheaded.

In his youth, devoted to St. Philomena Pauline Jaricot, which gave him credit for having miraculously healed of heart disease, three associations founded Catholic: Living Rosary Association, the Society for the Propagation of the Faith and the Association of the Holy Childhood. The three are dedicated to the memory of Santa.

In Catholic iconography Filomena portrays a girl with long hair, wavy and brown, wearing a long robe usually white, blue or orange, with palm leaves (symbol martyrdom), arrows or anchor in hand, and a royal crown or flowers in their hair.

In addition to these favors, obtain for me, O faithful spouse of Jesus, particular need to earnestly I recommend at this time.

Oh pure Virgin and holy Martyr, deign to address a look of pity from Heaven on your devoted servant, consoladme in distress, assist me in danger, especially come to my rescue when my death. Save on the interests of the Church of God, pray for its exaltation and prosperity, the extension of the Faith, the Sovereign Pontiff, by the clergy, for the perseverance of the just, the conversion of sinners, and the vote of souls Purgatory, especially my loved ones. Oh great Saint, whose triumph we celebrate on earth, intercede for me, that one day I can look at the crown of glory given to you in heaven and bless the One who liberally rewarded for all eternity the sufferings endured for His love during this short life. Amen.

Saint Philomena is venerated as a Virgin Martyr Saint of the Roman Catholic Church, said to have been a young Greek princess martyred in the 4th century. Her veneration began in the early 19th century after the archaeological discovery in the Catacombs of Priscilla of the bones of a young girl, which were interpreted as those of a martyr. Nothing else was known about her, but an inscription found at the tomb was taken to indicate that her name was (in the Latin of the inscription) Filumena; corresponding to the English name Philomena.

The remains were removed to Mungnano Cardinale in 1805 and became the focus of widespread devotion, with several miracles credited to the saint's intercession , including the healing of Venerable Pauline Jaricot in 1835, which received wide publicity. Saint Jean Vianney attributed to her intercession the extraordinary cures that others attributed to himself. Accounts of her life and martyrdom circulated on the basis of visions of a Neapolitan nun.

On 21 December 1833, the Holly Office declared that there was nothing contrary to the Catholic faith in the revelations that Sister Maria Luisa di Gesù (1799-1875), a Dominican tertiary from Naples claimed to have received from the Saint herself.

According to Sister Maria Luisa di Gesù, Saint Philomena told her she was the daughter of a king in Greece who, with his wife, had converted to Christianity. At the age of about 13 she took a vow of consecrated virginity. When the Emperor Diocletian threatened to make war on her father, he went with his family to Rome to ask for peace. The Emperor fell in love with the young Philomena and, when she refused to be his wife, he subjected her to a series of torments: scourging, from whose effects two angels cured her; drowning with an anchor attached to her, but two angels cut the rope and raised her to the river bank; being shot with arrows, but on the first occasion her wounds were healed, on the second the arrows turned aside, and on the third, they returned and killed six of the archers, and several of the others became Christians. Finally the Emperor had her decapitated, which occurred on a Friday at three in the afternoon, as with the death of Jesus. The two anchors, three arrows, the palm and the ivy leaf on the tiles found in the tomb were interpreted as symbols of her martyrdom.

In these visions she also revealed that her birthday was 10 January, that her martyrdom occurred on 10 August (the date also of the arrival of her relics in Mugnano del Cardinale),and that her name "Filumena" meant "daughter of light" (it is usually taken to be derived from a Greek word meaning "beloved")

On 24 May 1802 in the Catacombs of Priscilla on the Via Salaria Nova an inscribed loculus (space hollowed out of the rock) was found, and on the following day it was carefully examined and opened. The loculus was closed with three terra cotta tiles, on which was the following inscription: lumena paxte cumfi . It was and is generally accepted that the tiles were in a wrong order and that the inscription originally read, with the leftmost tile placed on the right: pax tecum Filumena (i.e."Peace with you, Philomena"). Within the loculus was found the skeleton of a female between thirteen and fifteen years old. Embedded in the cement was a small glass phial with vestiges of what was taken to be blood. Accordingly, in accordance with the assumptions of the time, the remains were taken to be those of a virgin martyr named Philomena.

In 1805, Canon Francesco De Lucia requested relics for a new altar, and on 8 June obtained the remains discovered in May 1802 (reduced to dust and fragments) for his church in Mungnano Cardinal, Where They Arrived on 11 August, after Being taken from Rome to Naples on July 1

In 1827, Pope Leo XIII Mugnano Gave to the church in the Cardinal's three inscribed terra cotta slabs That Had Been Taken from the tomb.

Report In His history of the translation of the sacred body of St. Filomena from Rome to Cardinal Mugnano De Lucia recounts wonders That Accompanied the arrival of the relics in His church, Among Them statues sweated That Some liquid Continuously for three days.

The spread of devotion to her in France as well as in Italy helped When Was Saint John Vianney built a shrine in her honor and Often Referred to her, attributing to her the miracles That Attributed others to Himself. Another help was the cure of the near-dying Venerable Pauline Jaricot, founder of the Society for the propagatin of the Faith, at Philomena's shrine on 10 August 1835.

Another miracle accepted as proved in the same year was the multiplication of the bone dust of the saint, which provided for hundreds of reliquaries without the original amount experiencing any decrease in quantity.
