VALUE OF WOMEN BY THE WORD OF GOD (Part One)
is sad that even in the XXI century, establishing the role of women is relegated only to bear children and be housewives home. Since ancient times women have been seen as the humanistic concept, background, and this concept has been used by many men as an opportunity to attack, damage and even beat their wives and do with it what you want. This view casts into an extreme machismo. The Greeks practiced what now known as machismo, for them was the phallocracy, male dominance in all aspects of society, even when the concept of democracy in the V century BC in Athens of Pericles, this applied only to men nobles, not for their wives, children and slaves.
This Greek heritage comes to the present day, to the extent that women are still being seen as a sexual object, and there just to please man. To cap it all in the Muslim world are girls given in marriage at ages between 6 and 9, according International Center for Research on Women estimate that currently there are 51 million child brides on our planet, almost all live in Muslim countries. 29% of these child brides are regularly beaten and abused by their husbands in Egypt, 26% are similar abuses in Jordan. Every year three million Muslim girls are subjected to genital mutilation (removal of the clitoris), according to UNICEF.
But more unfortunate is that the Christian church has not given the rightful place of women and many who say they are born again, their minds are with paradigms against it, take the term as synonymous submission maid or servant exclusively human. God designed women to be helper and to be loved and treated in a special way.
Ephesians 5:21 says, subject to one another in the fear of God.
5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord
5:23 For the husband is head of the wife as Christ is head of the church, which is his body, and he is the Savior.
5:24 Therefore as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
5:25 Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her,
5 : 26 to sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
5:27 to present it to himself a glorious church, without stain or wrinkle or any such thing, but holy and blameless.
5:28 So husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
5:29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church,
In the context of the century, with large disparities between men and women, the author of this letter challenging the husband to show the character of Christ in love and dedication for the good of women. This preferential treatment of the husband to the wife becomes the source of life for her. This relationship is embodied in the figure of the husband, head of the wife Greek expression which means no authority, no control, but a source or origin of women corresponds to the behavior of the husband with his own delivery (vv: 22 to 24) . This mutuality Christian contrasted with domestic codes of conduct promulgated by the philosophers of the time, which required a hierarchy between husband and wife.
In I Peter 3: 7 asks the Christian husband who treats his wife with consideration and honor, as heir of the grace.
Writing emancipated women and when he speaks of knowing the truth and be free, not just for men but also women.
So women are heirs of the grace and that puts us on equal status between men and women.
Wonderful is God who is a special way and without meaning.
With love to you and me ...
